Cybersecurity Preparedness Benchmarking Study

The introduction of information technology has revolutionized the modern workforce and society, as well as important and influential corporations, nonprofits, governments, and organizations. Instantaneous communication and interconnected systems have also created new hazards and vulnerabilities. High-profile breaches of networks and systems have proliferated and captured the attention of the public, media, and government. As a result of events ranging from cyber vandalism to theft to direct sabotage, large organizations that have benefited from IT and our networked world have become keenly aware of the vulnerabilities that these technologies and developments have caused.

Despite the critical nature of cybersecurity, many organizations are uncertain about the level of preparedness of their cybersecurity measures. Leaders have difficulty assessing and communicating the effectiveness of their programs. Critically, many do not know how to even gauge the performance of their cybersecurity programs.

With many organizations struggling to adapt to the complicated world of cybersecurity, experts at Berkeley Research Group recently conducted a Cybersecurity Preparedness Benchmarking Study. In presenting our findings, we aim to provide a snapshot of the current state of cybersecurity practices across leading global organizations, and to advise organizations in improving their cybersecurity programs.

BRG would like to acknowledge the support of our partners, especially the Institute of Operational Risk (IOR) and its chapters for their assistance in raising awareness around the study.
