Robert Wagstaff’s 27-year career has included more than 15 years of experience in the transaction, restructuring, and assurance advisory space, during which time he has led and executed engagements in every major country in the Americas. This experience includes sourcing and valuing deals, managing due diligence and restructuring engagements from start to finish, and managing post-acquisition integration. His technical expertise includes buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence, merger integration, business viability evaluations, turnarounds, financial restructurings and divestitures, valuation, and deal structuring. He also has held senior management, financial, and business development positions in the private sector.
Most recently, Mr. Wagstaff served as a managing director at a corporate finance advisory firm, where he led business development and deal execution. Prior to that, he was a managing director in the Transaction Advisory practice of a global business advisory firm. Before that, he was vice president of Finance for Osprey Pharmaceuticals, where he raised more than $35 million in private equity for this biotechnology company. Mr. Wagstaff also spent several years with SITEL Corp, an international publicly traded company, where he held senior financial and operating roles, including executive director of Mergers and Acquisitions, chief financial officer – Latin America, and managing director of the Mexico and Colombia business unit.
Mr. Wagstaff began his career working in the Montreal, Mexico City, and New York City offices at a Big Four accounting firm, where he was a manager in the Corporate Finance practice. He led a variety of transaction advisory engagements in a range of sectors, including energy, industrial products, telecommunications, technology, manufacturing, and real estate.
Mr. Wagstaff holds a B.Comm. in accounting from Concordia University in Montreal and completed graduate courses at McGill University. He is fully fluent in Spanish and French, and has a thorough understanding of written and spoken Portuguese.
