John Kelliher has nearly 20 years of healthcare policy experience, including in the government and transaction consulting.
Mr. Kelliher left government service in 2004. Most recently, he worked as a senior managing director at the Marwood Group, where he had oversight for the government regulatory and reimbursement component of the firm's transactional diligence/advisory practice. Between 2007 and 2014, he managed all federal policy analysis, including more than 500 projects, mostly M&A transactions, across virtually every segment of the healthcare system.
After leaving government service, Mr. Kelliher spent several years at the lobbying firm of Timmons & Co., where he represented several healthcare companies. In this role, he advocated for firms across the healthcare sector, including pharmaceuticals, devices, payers, and a variety of providers.
Mr. Kelliher also spent nine years as a Congressional staffer, including four years as chief counsel of the Committee on Ways and Means of the U.S. House of Representatives. In that role, he was the senior staffer to the committee with oversight of the Medicare program and involved in all legislation produced by the committee. During Mr. Kelliher's tenure, he participated in the drafting and enactment of the Medicare prescription drug benefit. He was also involved with the drafting and enactment of major tax legislation. During his time in politics, Mr. Kelliher also served as chief counsel of the 2000 Republican National Convention. In this role, he oversaw all the legal affairs of the convention, from contracts to election law compliance.
Mr. Kelliher also served as an active-duty Army office for four years.
