He has more than 23 years of healthcare experience, having devoted the last 7 years to performance improvement consulting within the hospital environment. His hospital operations experience includes management engineering, pharmacy operations, and information technology services; while his consulting experience includes working with hospitals and health systems to help guide them through multimillion-dollar performance improvement initiatives with a focus on labor and non-labor cost reduction, as well as process improvement.
Mr. Beirne has successfully reduced costs and gained efficiencies by improving operational processes, while maintaining a high standard of customer service and quality. Managing numerous hospital-wide operational improvement initiatives for hospitals and health systems throughout the country in order to drastically reduce cost, increase revenues, grow profitable service lines, and maintain service levels
Developing project management offices for various clients to manage the successful completion of multiple complex initiatives
Performing productivity benchmarking and process improvement assessments/implementations for clinical and non-clinical settings in all areas of hospital operations
Working with hospitals to develop strategies to achieve higher productivity performance targets, including the tools and training to meet the targets
Working with hospitals to significantly reduce non-payroll expenses by achieving lower pricing through improved contract utilization, product standardization, vendor selection, improved supply utilization, inventory management, and redesigned processes around the supply chain
Prior to his consulting career, Mr. Beirne’s experience included:
Implementing automation and inventory control systems that improve turns and increase cash flow
Managing a staff of 35 full-time employees consisting of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, IT personnel, and data entry personnel
Overseeing more than $50 million in revenue and over $30 million in expense budgets spanning five departments and three campuses
