Helaine Gregory is a director in BRG's Global Investigations + Strategic Intelligence practice and is based in Puerto Rico. She has nearly 30 years of professional experience as an attorney, executive, and business owner. She has assisted clients with business development, joint venture partnerships, physician relationships, strategic planning and strategy implementation, expert witness testimony (civil and criminal proceedings), healthcare provider operations, biopharmaceutical market access, orphan drug product launch, and managed care contracting.
Ms. Gregory was previously a vice president of operations for a chronic kidney disease and dialysis treatment company, where she had responsibility for a multi-site operations budget and profit and loss, medical director relationships, quality indicators, regulatory compliance, managed care, strategic footprint expansions, and real estate and construction matters. She was also director of business practices at a major healthcare firm in Hartford, Connecticut, where she implemented and directed the Government Operations division’s compliance program, which covered 1,400 employees in nine locations, administered five government contracts, and generated revenues of $120 million per year. Her healthcare industry experience also includes corporate compliance and risk management, fraud and abuse, health insurance, and government affairs.
Ms. Gregory was an associate general counsel for the Texas and National Capital Area organizations of a US health insurance federation. She specialized in government contracts, accounting and procurement regulations, and Code of Conduct/compliance training program design and implementation. She started her career as a business litigation associate for a law firm in Dallas.
Ms. Gregory has an AB in sociology and Latin American studies from Harvard University and a JD from Boston University School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in Texas and several federal jurisdictions. She is a member of the Inter-American Bar Association and secretary of its Puerto Rico Chapter.
In addition to her civilian career, Ms. Gregory served in the US Army as a reservist in the Judge Advocate General's Corps, attaining the rank of Major.
