IADC 2023 Midyear Meeting

BRG was a sponsor of the International Association of Defense Counsel’s (IADC) Midyear Meeting from February 18-23. The IADC is a distinguished membership-only association composed of corporate and insurance lawyers and insurance executives. Bob Craig has been an IADC member for more than twenty years.

On February 21, Craig Schulman took part in the panel discussion “Practical Solutions for Seeking and Defending Against Economic Damages in Business Litigation.” He joined panelists John W. Campbell (FedEx Express) and Dixie T. Wells (Ellis & Winters LLP).

Whether you are seeking them on behalf of your client or opposing the other side’s demand, economic damages are the heart of business litigation. These damages can be challenging to quantify and even more challenging to present to a judge or jury with no understanding of business. This program discussed types of potential damages (such as lost profits, lost business opportunities, diminished stock value, harm to reputation) that require a particular kind of proof to go beyond speculation; as well as strategies for presenting these types of damages, or their antidote, to the factfinder in an engaging way.
